Karl Maier was an associate lawyer at Beacon Law Centre from October 2019 to November 2023. His practice was primarily in trust and estate planning, but also included business structures, business transactions, real estate transactions, probate and estate administration and uncontested committee applications.

Karl delivered thoughtful, creative solutions to people and businesses at all stages of life and development. His goal was to support his clients’ decision making, to communicate clearly, and to show care for every person he met. He was excited to return to Vancouver Island to join the lawyers at Beacon Law Centre, to support their success, and to learn ‘at the feet of the masters’. He was not disappointed – every day brought a new challenge.

Karl now lives with his spouse Denise, whose career has focused on children and families, in Fort Nelson, British Columbia. Sensibly their three adult children still live in Victoria and Vancouver. Karl’s other interests are skiing, sailing, Indigenous reconciliation, and environmental action.

Karl also enjoyed cycling to work (most days) in all weather, logging 14,500KM on his ebike in 4 years of commuting!
