Senior level Commercial Legal Assistant or Paralegal
Beacon Law Centre, a unique and award-winning law firm with three locations, is hiring. We are looking for an intermediate to senior level Commercial Legal Assistant or Paralegal to help support our growing commercial practice on the Saanich Peninsula.
Our targeted seniority level will reflect a salary of $60 K-$80K, plus our firms benefit package. We are, however, open to hearing from people outside that seniority range. We are looking to support an array of practice areas and would like to hear from you if you have experience in:
- Commercial transactions, particularity business acquisitions and sales
- Commercial financing associated with transactions
- Secured lending
- Real Estate development
- Working with large corporate groups and lenders for compliance needs and ongoing support
- Other similar or associated matters or practices
The ideal candidate can do the following:
- Traffic controller: you can drop into a new matter, take stock of status, build a plan and document list, and ensure the responsible lawyer is able to do their part without being tripped -up on file admin. You keep the file moving.
- Technical proficiency: you know the relevant laws, best practices, and are fluent in drafting accurately. You are quick to check back to source legislation to make sure we’ve got it right.
- Strong experience: you have worked on purchase and sales of businesses, are comfortable with the process and filings of commercial financing and can take reorganization instruction to finished documents. If you have real estate development experience, so much the better.
- Teachable: we are always learning, and you are looking to expand your knowledge and skills as well. Doing things in a new way or with a new process does not frighten you.
- Organized: you are tracking files in progress, communicating capacity limitations and upcoming items of importance and maintain information and documents clearly laid out for others to review and assist.
- Communication: you will be in direct contact with clients and other professionals, so you are able to present yourself and our firm, while managing a stream of inquiries.
Education and Qualifications:
- Intermediate to senior level relevant experience (min 4 years)
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.,) ECorp, BC Online, LTSA and Esilaw.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, able to communicate at all levels of an organization, internally and externally.
- The ability to always practice sound discretion and judgement
- Specialized industry experience may be an asset
Job Type: Full Time
Salary Range: $60,000.00 – $80,000.00
Benefits: Health Care Spending account and employer matched Pension Plan
Schedule: Monday -Friday, 9am-5pm, (35 hours per week)
Location: Sidney BC, in person
